Our Silver & Plating

What 925 sterling silver means

Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver. The remaining 7.5% is other metal, usually copper, which makes the silver strong enough to hold its shape and its stones. Pure silver alone is too soft for jewellery.

Our purity guarantee

Every SIMVOLI piece is stamped 925, and SIMVOLI takes full responsibility for its 92.5% purity.

Silver hallmarking in India is currently voluntary. SIMVOLI pieces are not BIS hallmarked at present; we guarantee their purity ourselves and plan to introduce BIS-hallmarked pieces with HUID.

Our finishes

  • Rhodium-plated silver (Sterling Silver collection): a bright white finish that also slows tarnishing.
  • Rose gold plated silver (Sterling Silver collection): a warm pink-gold finish over 925 silver.
  • Gold-plated silver (Gold on Silver collection): gold electroplated over 925 silver. The gold karat is stated on the product page where it is known for that piece.

Weight

The weight shown for every piece is its gross weight, stones included, as is standard for silver jewellery.

Plating needs care

Plating is a thin layer and wears with use. Silver and plating both react to sulphur in sweat, perfume, cosmetics and rubber. Follow our care guide to keep the finish longer, and see our re-plating and service terms.
